We are delighted to announce that the Photodyn paper:
Seghir R., Pierron F., A novel imaged-based ultrasonic test to map material mechanical properties at high strain-rates, Experimental Mechanics, vol. 58, pp. 183–206, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11340-017-0329-4
has been awarded the 2019 Hetényi award by the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM).
Some of us will be at the BSSM conference, 10-12 September 2019, Belfast, UK, where we will present some of our latest results. Hope to see you there, abstract submission open until end of February.
2018 YSA Winner Jared Van Blitterswyk, University of Southampton, UK with Steve Raynes, Head of Test Airbus
Research Fellow in imaging ultrasonic deformation of biological cells and tissues
3 years, starting Nov. 1st 2018
Congratulations to Alex Marek and Jared Van Blitterswyk for reaching 2nd and 3rd place respectively from 43 submissions (16 shortlisted for oral presentations) at the 2018 SEM conference student paper competition.
The annual conference of the British Society for Strain Measurement (BSSM) will take place 29-31 August 2018 in Southampton, UK. We are organizing a track on ‘image-based high strain rate testing’ where the latest advances of the PhotoDyn project will be presented, as well a work from our partners and others researchers in the world. The deadlien for abstract submission is 15 February 2018. http://www.bssm.org/default.asp?p=273
The next edition of the MatchID 5-day intensive DIC course will be held from 11 to 15 June 2018 at Drexel University in Philadelphia, USA. The flyer can be downloaded here. More details on the MatchID website.
On 3-4 September 2018, we organize in Southampton a two-day intensive course on the Virtual Fields Method with a special focus on transient dynamics and high strain rate testing including live demos and hands-on tutorials, see http://photodyn.org/events. This runs as a post-conference course to the British Society for Strain Measurement (BSSM) annual conference (29-31 August 2018 in Southampton as well) where a track on image-based high strain rate testing is being organized and where the most recent results from the PhotoDyn project will be showcased. Details of the BSSM conference here.
We would like to thank all the participants to the PhotoDyn industrial engagement meeting that was held 5-6 September 2017 at the University of Southampton. More information can be found in the ‘events‘ page.
